Dr. Goddy Chungag – Associate Dean of General Education Baker College of Flint, MI

Dr. Goddy Chungag is a Cameroonian from Mankon- Bamenda, born in Buea. During his early education, he attended both mission and government primary schools. He attended St. Joseph’s College, Sasse where he completed both the Ordinary and Advanced Levels. Sasse was a different world for him and during the 7 years there, his perspective on life would change considerably. Upon graduation from Sasse, he spent the next year teaching Mathematics and Physics at the junior and senior levels at Bishop Rogan College before leaving for the United States in August of 1984.

He has been very fortunate to fulfill his life-long dreams of becoming an engineer, a scientist, a researcher, a developer, an academician and has a great family that continues to support him all the way.

Dr. Chungag is currently the Associate Dean of General Education at Baker College of Flint in Michigan. He is responsible for the staffing, supervision and evaluation of Economics, Mathematics, Physics and Sciences staff and faculty. He also mentors and advices students, provide leadership in the development of advisory boards, and identify and maintain accreditation standards and requirements of Baker College of Flint. According to Julianne T. Princinsky, Ed.D, Baker College of Flint President, “Dr. Chungag brings a wealth of technical, business and teaching experience and talent to the campus, and they are pleased that he has joined the Baker College family.

Prior to joining Baker College of Flint, Dr. Chungag was Associate Professor of Physics at Bemidji State University, Bemidji, Minnesota. He has more than 15 years of industry and technical experience in the fields of automotive engineering, aerospace engineering and construction; more than seven years of academic experience in the areas of research and as a mechanical engineer, biomedical engineer, physics and mathematics instructor; and more than 10 years of management experience in the areas of technology, business, education and administration.

Dr. Chungag holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, Indiana, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University, a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University, and an MBA in leadership, strategic planning and finance from the University of Mary, America’s Leadership University, at Bismarck, N.D.

He is a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and National Society for Professional Engineers (NSPE), Engineering Society in Detroit (ESD), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE).

He is married with children and the entire family is excited and looking forward to attending and participating actively at the Macuda convention. We look forward to hearing him speak at the  2011 cultural jamboree.
